TheGreenEyl (Germany/UK/US)Whispering Table – an interactive interactive installation
The installation, which was commissioned by the Jewish Museum in Berlin, deals with the symbolic links between food and religion. At a round table with porcelain dishes, four different ritual feasts are represented: a Jewish Passover seder and Mimouna celebration; Navruz, the Islam springtime holy day; and the Chinese Hungry Ghost Festival. When you hold the various dishes to your ear, you hear narratives based on documents and interviews about the different festival traditions.
The international group TheGreenEyl (Berlin/London/New York), is involved in interdisciplinary explorations in the field of design and the esthetic potentials of technology. One of the group’s interactive pieces was nominated for the London Design Museum’s Designs of the Year 2009 Awards, and their work has been given an Honorable Mention at Ars Electronica festivals from 2008 to 2010.
